Down 14 nil after 10 minutes, then 20 nil after 20 minutes. The remainder of the second half was a good effort by the Magpies who put on two tries of their own, but right on half time the Tigers scored another to take a 24 to 10 lead into the sheds. The second half saw a more determined effort by the Magpies who put on two quick converted tries to reduce the Tigers lead to just two points, 24 to 22. A mistake on the last tackle, when the ball was kicked out on the full gave the Tigers very good field position. They capatalised on the error scoring a converted try, then another in the dying stages of the game to run out winners 36 to 22. Some good signs, but mistakes were again costly.
Balmain 36 defeated Wests 22. Scorers for the Magpies - 2 tried to Josh Toole, 1 try each to Andrew Everingham and Michael Stolk with Rhys Lenarduzzi kicking three conversioins from four attempts.
