Rnd 2 - NSW Cup Preview

The Wentworthville Magpies will be determined not to drop two in a row at home to start the season after a 40-18 loss to the Jets last Sunday while Western Suburbs were highly competitive early on against Manly before letting the game slip away in the second stanza. Wenty looked disjointed and lacked the offensive penetration to foot it with the Jets last Sunday and no doubt it would have been a big week on the training paddock for Brett Cook and the boys. Trevor Schodel and the Wests Magpies got a taste of just how big of a challenge they will face in season 2012, and their problems were not helped with the loss of five eight Chris Nay to serious injury. For Wenty, Nathan Smith left the field with what looked like a shoulder injury last week but has been named to play, and they will also be without Pat O’Hanlon and Joseph Paulo. Trent Touma has been named by Trevor Schodel to replace the injured Chris Nay.
Talking Point: Tiding, tribe, charm, gulp, flock, or murder – All of these words are collective nouns for ‘a group of Magpies’. So if you like black and white birds and would like to see up to 26 of them on a football field at any one time, then all you Ornithologists should get down to Ringrose Park this Sunday.
Prediction: Wentworthville will need a much improved effort than what they put forward last week but should be desperate enough to not drop two in a row at home. Wenty by 10.
